2019 Kogi Guber Race: Abubakar Idris Will Play By The Rules – Group
Kogi West Youth Alliance (KWYA) has
assured governorship aspirants jostling for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
that the frontline contender, Alhaji Abubakar Idris will emerge candidate of
the party in a free and fair process.
Secretary of KWYA, Comrade Temitope
Olufemi, made this known in Lokoja on Monday.
Speaking with newsmen at the NUJ
Press Centre, Temitope frowned at rumours making rounds that Idris is plotting
to circumvent the process of selecting party candidate with his father’s
influence.
Temitope posited
that Abubakar, the first son of former governor Ibrahim Idris is well groomed
for the task of re-positioning Kogi state.
He urged
current and intending aspirants to get prepared to meet Idris on the field and
the party’s primary election.
“We urge all
governorship aspirants in PDP to disregard lies and unfounded rumours
surrounding the ambition of Alhaji Abubakar Idris. He is cultured men
who believe in fair play.
“Alhaji
Abubakar Idris is prepared to play by the rules as enshrined in the party’s constitution
and guidelines. I urge other aspirants to prepare well for the yet to be
scheduled party primary election coming up next year.
“The next
governor of Kogi state must be one with the necessary qualities to bail the
state out of its present economic predicament. I am confident that Kogi state
will be a better place for us all if Alh.
Abubakar Idris becomes the next
governor,” he said.
Temitope
called on the youths to see the aspiration of Alh Abubakar Idris as one geared
towards employment generation, economic empowerment and the fulfillment of the future past leaders clamoured for over the years.
