The Independent National Electoral Commission
(INEC) has declared Samuel Ortom, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP), as a winner of the governorship
election in Benue state on 23 March 2019.
The governor’s victory comes on the
back of the supplementary election held in some polling units across the state.
Sebastian Maimako, the returning
officer in the state, declared Ortom winner on Sunday after he secured 434,473
votes to defeat Emmanuel Jime, his closest rival and candidate of the All
Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 345,155 votes.
Ortom
, who contested on the platform of (PDP) the Peoples Democratic Party , won with a
margin of 89,318 votes after the collation of figures for the supplementary
elections held on March 23, 2019.
