Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) tasks corporate Organizations, Philanthropists over impactful projects on Children

The Founder, Young Children Centre Point (YCCP) in Kogi state , Mrs Rita Sadiq, has called on Corporate Organizations and Philanthropists in the country to invest vigorously in projects that has direct impact on the lives and future of our Nigerian Children.

Mrs Sadiq who made the call on Saturday during the maiden edition of YCCP Spelling Bee Competition held at Children Amusement Park in Lokoja Kogi State, said the only way children could be made as leaders of tomorrow was through constant investment in different programmes and projects that would enhance their knowledge and moral behaviour. 

According to Mrs. Sadiq, “It is high time Corporate organizations in the state endeavour to fund projects like the Spelling Bee competition that have direct impact in the lives of children who are being regarded as leaders of tomorrow. 

“YCCP  is not the type of NGO  that will collect money and run away ,  we have been working since 2014 using our money . We are appealing to corporate organization and philanthropists to come to our aid so that we can have a structure and institution that will be vibrant in attending to the needs of the children and the society at large.

“I was motivated  to organised the Spelling Bee Competition through  observation in the environment where i work, most people do not know how to spell some words correctly and I strongly believe that they have the challenge for long as their basic education level  was not built up on that line

“That was why I decided to organised the spelling Bee Competition for young children in junior secondary schools in Kogi state that are coming up so that they can get used to their spelling base also eager practicing it”

She said 10 secondary schools are participate in the Competition namely; Scintillate International School, Army Day Secondary School, Kogi Academy , Government Science Secondary school, Harmony Secondary School, Eagles Academy,  Redeemer International School, Baptist International School, UBE Junior Secondary School , Muslims Community Secondary School and YCCP Children participated in the competition.

However at the end of the competition Baptist international School came first while Harmony Secondary School took second position and Eagles Academy occupied last position.

The winner went home with a Webster dictionary, six pieces of exercise books and one electric kettle. The second position also received a Webster dictionary, six pieces of glassware cups and six pieces of exercise books while the third price winner coasted with a Webster dictionary, three pieces of glassware and sic pieces of exercise books.

The founder of YCCP who urged parents  to do more to impact values on their  children in our environments by way of inculcating honesty and moral behaviour, assured that the second edition of the competition would involve more schools across the state.
